New York - the City with many names. It was first founded in the year of 1624 but wasn't properly established until 1625 by the Dutch who used it as a commercial trading post. In 1970 it New York was one of the largest Cities in the United States of America. Today New York is comprised of five boroughs - The Bronx; Brooklyn; Manhattan; Queens and Staten Island. In 2007 there was an estimated figure of around 8,274,527 people living within a 322 square miles (830 km˛) radius of New York (and around the boroughs).
